On Saturday, March 18, 6:00 PM start time, Michinoku Pro makes its return to Yahaba Townspeople General Gymnasium in Iwate, and it will be a special evening, as it will be part 1 of the Michinoku Pro Wrestling 30th Anniversary celebration!
TOHOKU JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Michinoku Pro has a very rich history that began in 1993, and the roster of its current era continues to add chapters to Michinoku Pro's history. In the main event on March 18, Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Champion Fujita Jr. Hayato will put his championship on the line against 2-time former Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Champion MUSASHI!
It was in May 2022 that the stage had been set for then-champion MUSASHI to defend the Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Championship against Fujita Jr. Hayato, who was making an inspirational return to the ring. Their historical match that took place in July resulted in Hayato becoming the champion and beginning his third reign.
MUSASHI and Fujita Jr. Hayato's match was 30 minutes of action consisting of stiff chops, kicks, headbutts, forearm strikes, near-falls, and more, incomparable to the extent that it was declared the winner of pro-wrestling channel Samurai TV's 2022 Japan Indie Award for Best Bout. Their rematch on March 18 will be Hayato's first Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Championship defense, and will quite possibly be the best Japan indie bout of 2023. Will Hayato's first defense be a successful one, or will MUSASHI win the championship for a third time?
THE GREAT SASUKE VS. SHINOBU KANDORI
Also at this event, the founder of Michinoku Pro, the original holder of the J-Crown, and a legend in the pro-wrestling industry, The Great Sasuke, will face another legend when he steps into the ring with Shinobu Kandori.
Shinobu Kandori has held many championships during her career that spans over three decades, including the WWWA World Championship and the UWA World Women's Championship.
Shinobu Kandori is an accomplished athlete outside of wrestling as well. She won the bronze medal at the 1984 World Judo Championships, and in the mid-1990s, Kandori began participating in MMA. Her MMA record is 4-1-0.
The MMA events were promoted by Ladies Legend Pro-Wrestling-X (LLPW-X) a women's wrestling promotion that was co-founded by Shinobu Kandori and Rumi Kazama
in 1992. LLPW still does have events occasionally, its most recent one being, "Rumi Kazama Memorial" in 2022, a tribute to Kazama who passed away in 2021.
OTHER GUESTS
Also making guest appearances at this special event will be former Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Champion Yoshitsune, as well as former Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Champion Kagetora, who in recent years has been wrestling frequently in DG.
